1. What this tool is

The Drug and Clinical Pipeline Explorer is a free, public browser tool that merges public drug and clinical-trial data into one searchable view. It is built and maintained by Ambrosigen and it is free to use, with no account and no paywall. It is a research aid for people who work in drug discovery and development. What it is not is a regulatory database, a source of medical advice, or a substitute for reading the primary records, and Section 3 is worth your time before you rely on a number from it in a decision.

2. No medical or professional advice

The tool provides scientific and regulatory information for research and educational purposes only. It is not medical advice, it does not describe the safety or efficacy of any medicine for any patient, and it must not be used to make a treatment decision. If you are a patient or a carer, consult a qualified healthcare professional. Approval status shown here does not mean a medicine is approved, available, or appropriate in your country. Nothing on this site is an offer of a medicinal product.

3. Accuracy, coverage and limitations

The data is derived from public sources by an automated pipeline and is provided “as is”. Known and accepted limitations include the following.

  • Data is refreshed periodically, not continuously. The build date is shown in the tool and in manifest.json.
  • Coverage is uneven. ClinicalTrials.gov registration only became routine after 2007, so early-phase and pre-2007 development is under-represented, and a substantial number of approved compounds carry no linked trial at all.
  • Regulatory approval evidence is drawn from FDA, EMA and curated database records. China’s NMPA is not a source, so some approved medicines will show as unapproved.
  • Derived metrics (success rates, phase progression, development timelines) are computed from incomplete registry data, exclude records with unusable dates, and are descriptive statistics, not predictions. Caveats are shown in the interface where they apply.
  • Some registry-reported dates are anticipated rather than observed, and are marked as such.

We correct errors when we find them and welcome reports at [EMAIL], but we do not warrant that the data is complete, current or accurate, and we do not undertake to keep it available.

4. Data sources and attribution

This tool would not exist without the following, and they deserve the credit for the underlying data.

  • ChEMBL — EMBL-EBI. Licensed under CC BY-SA 3.0.
  • ClinicalTrials.gov, accessed via the AACT database maintained by the Clinical Trials Transformation Initiative (CTTI), Duke University. US Government work, no copyright.
  • Open Targets Platform — released under CC0 1.0.
  • U.S. Food and Drug Administration — New Molecular Entity approvals. US Government work.
  • European Medicines Agency — authorised human medicines, reused under the EMA’s reuse policy.
  • KEGG BRITE br08328 — Kanehisa Laboratories.

None of these organisations endorse this tool, have reviewed it, or are responsible for anything derived from their data here.

5. Licence — the data

The compound and trial data served by this tool is derived from ChEMBL and is therefore made available to you under the Creative Commons Attribution-ShareAlike 3.0 Unported licence (CC BY-SA 3.0). You may copy, redistribute and adapt it, including commercially, provided that you:

  1. attribute this tool and the original sources as set out in Section 9;
  2. share alike, distributing any adapted database under CC BY-SA 3.0 or a compatible licence; and
  3. do not apply technical measures that restrict others from doing the same.

6. Licence — the database as a compilation

Section 5 licenses the contents. It does not license the compilation.

The selection, verification, structuring and presentation of this database represent a substantial investment by Ambrosigen, and the database right under Directive 96/9/EC and Czech Act No. 121/2000 Coll. is reserved. Except as permitted by Section 5 and by mandatory law, you may not extract or re-utilise a substantial part of the database, nor repeatedly and systematically extract or re-utilise insubstantial parts in a way that conflicts with normal exploitation of the database or unreasonably prejudices our legitimate interests.

In practice, this means: query, read, cite, screenshot and export freely for your own work; do not harvest the database wholesale to stand up a competing service.

7. Licence — interface, code and text

The interface, source code, styling, tooltips, help documentation, derived analytical model (including the compound–trial matching, identity and development-status logic) and all site text are © [YEAR] Ambrosigen. All rights reserved. They are not covered by Section 5 and may not be copied, reproduced or reverse-engineered into a derivative interface without written permission.

8. Acceptable use

You may use the tool for research, teaching, business intelligence, publication and commercial work, subject to Sections 5-7. You may not:

  • access the underlying data files by automated means outside the tool’s own interface, including crawlers, scrapers and headless browsers, except as permitted in robots.txt;
  • place load on the service that interferes with its availability for others;
  • ingest the database into a machine-learning training corpus or a retrieval-augmented dataset without written permission;
  • remove, obscure or falsify attribution, source labelling or build identifiers; or
  • present the data in a way that implies endorsement by Ambrosigen or by any data source or regulator named in Section 4.

Requests for bulk or programmatic access are welcome and usually granted. Ask (Section 10) rather than scrape.

9. How to cite

When you use figures, screenshots or data from this tool, cite it as:

10. Commercial, bulk and custom use

The public tool covers general questions. If you need something it does not do — a bulk or programmatic feed, a therapeutic area or modality cut, a competitor pipeline analysis, custom fields, or the same pipeline run against your internal data — that is what Ambrosigen does as a consultancy. Write to [EMAIL] and describe the question; the first conversation costs nothing.

11. Privacy

The tool requires no account and collects no personal data. All filtering and analysis runs in your browser, and your queries are not transmitted to or stored by us. The website itself is hosted on WordPress at Hostinger, which maintains standard server access logs and may set cookies necessary for the site to function. See [PRIVACY POLICY LINK] for details.

12. Availability, warranty and liability

The tool is provided free of charge, without warranty of any kind, express or implied, including as to accuracy, completeness, fitness for a particular purpose, or uninterrupted availability. We may change, restrict or withdraw it at any time without notice.

To the fullest extent permitted by law, Ambrosigen is not liable for any loss, damage or cost arising from use of, or reliance on, this tool or its data, including any commercial, scientific, regulatory or clinical decision taken on the basis of it. Nothing here excludes liability that cannot be excluded by law.

13. Changes and governing law

We may amend these terms; the current version is always at this URL and the date at the top is the version marker. Continued use after a change means you accept it. These terms are governed by Czech law, and the courts of the Czech Republic have jurisdiction, without prejudice to any mandatory consumer protection in your country of residence.
